What does my All-Access Wristband include?
Your POPA All-Access Wristband, only $15, gains you admission to all musical performances; free LaZoom Shuttle transportation on music performance evenings, Thursday Kickoff Party; all workshops, open houses, and panel/speaker sessions. Yep.. that's everything.
Can I bring my pet?
No.
Are the workshops really worth it?
Yes. Musicians and anyone interested in the music business or the history of rock & pop will take away something valuable. Workshops are Saturday afternoon... see \"Day Events\".
Can I purchase my wristband at the venue doors?
Yes, if POPA still has wristbands available. Consider purchasing your POPA wristband in advance (on this site or locally at ticket outlets), or at POPA Registration (The Rocket Club, 4pm-8pm Thursday or Friday)
Is the POPA Kickoff Party a freaking blast?
Yes. It's a freaking blast. 8-11 on Thursday, Jan. 15 at The New French Bar on Biltmore Ave. DJ Par D will spin select pop songs from the last 30 years as well as POPA bands' tunes; food and decor will be provided! You must have a POPA All-Acess Wristband to attend! You can purchase at POPA Registration (Rocket Club, 4-8 on Thursday). You will also be able to purchase at the door, unless wristbands have sold out in advance.
Are workshops and the panel open to all attendees?
The day events are open to all attendees! In fact, POPA is specifically tailoring many events to be a great experience for folks who are not musicians but consider themselves "music fans". You must have a POPA All-Access Wristband or a Big POPA Wristband for entry.
When are the workshops and panel?
Workshops will be held from 1pm-4pm on Saturday, Jan. 17. See "Workshops/Panel" in the main menu for descriptions and specific schedule. The Panel Discussion will be held from 1pm-3pm on Sunday, Jan. 18. See "Workshops/Panel" in the main menu for more info.
I ONLY want to attend the workshops. I'm not a night person. Can I just do that?
Yes. You must have a POPA All-Access Wristband to attend, however.
Are there any age restrictions on the shows?
All POPA Day Events are open to all ages. Each music venue has its own law-enforced age policy, and POPA is required to follow these: Grey Eagle - All Ages Stella Blue 21+ The Rocket Club 21+ So, if you\\\'re under 21, your POPA All-Access Wristband gets you into all performances at the Grey Eagle, as well as free transportation and entertainment on the awesome LaZoom Shuttle, day workshops, music biz panel/speaker, and $5 Sunday Brunch option.
Is the evening shuttle really free and fun?
Yes... if you are a wearing a POPA All-Access or Big POPA Wristband, the LaZoom entertainment shuttle is free! The shuttle is itself a large part of the POPAsheville experience! Operating during music performance evenings, the shuttle arrives at each venue approx. every 30 minutes (check the board near venue door for next arrival time), and transports wristband-wearing attendees to the other venues. POPA provides this transportation option so that attendees will have fun & be safer, and our festival will minimize its impact on the environment. So... decide which band you want to see first, and park your car at that venue. Ride the LaZoom bus around as you hop from venue to venue; at the end of the night, hop on the shuttle to return to your vehicle!
What if I'm only in town for 1 night? Do I have to buy a wristband?
There is no discounted wristband that allows admission to all venues or events for one day only. However, ONE-night-ONE-venue admission may be offered on a limited basis, based upon availability. ONE-night-ONE-venue admission is $10, and allows you to see the bands in one venue on one evening only (if you do the math, you'll realize it's probably worth it to just get the All-Access Wristband).
How many bands will I get to see?
Band performances happen from approx. 8pm until approx. 2am. There are 5 bands scheduled in each of the 3 music venues on Friday and Saturday evenings. So that's a total of 30 bands on the menu for you to choose from. We recommend deciding beforehand which bands you want to see, and taking one of the shuttles between venues to see all of your faves. Speaking of the shuttle, there are a lot of great acts performing there, too :)
Can my band play at POPA?
Bands are booked for this year. Sorry :( ... but there's lots of networking to be had for bands... so hope to see you at the fest anyway.
How can I be the awesomest audience member?
1. Attend the shows. 2. Stand up front. 3. Cheer; sing along; clap; dance. 4. Buy the band's CD. 5. (Don't) get ridiculously drunk. 6. (Don't) flash your boobs. 7. Come to the band's next show.
Do I need to be a member at any of the venues?
The Rocket Club and Stella Blue venues require you to be a member. Make your entrance the nights of POP Asheville seamless by becomming a member before POP Asheville weekend by going to the clubs and signing up for a membership.
